Collect is a leading international art fair for contemporary craft and design, presented by Craft Council UK. I was invited by Craft Alliance Atlantic as one of 18 fine craft artists from Atlantic Canada to exhibit at Collect 2025, London, UK. in an exhibition titled “Here & Now Connecting Culture + Landscape through Water”, curated by Bruno Vinhas.

For this exhibition on the theme of water, I created a new body of work which continues my exploration of endemic Nova Scotian wildlife and my deep concern for the rapidly disappearing wilderness, including wetlands. This is both a local and global issue. I have chosen to portray two animals which exist worldwide, a frog and kingfishers. They are both considered indicator species because their sensitivity to environmental changes can indicate the health of an ecosystem. The Belted Kingfisher is the North American species, a small fishing bird found in deep forests near calm ponds and small rivers. I have created a tabletop pond with frog, surrounded by waterbird vases. The pond and the vases will hold water and fresh cut flowers, allowing the viewer to bring Nature indoors to contemplate the interconnectedness of living things.
